Joanna's Problem Solving
Hi it’s Joanna and I am going to help you with problem solving. I am going to help you with 2 of the questions that were for homework this weekend. So the first one that I am going to help you with is:
On the first down, a football team had loss of 8 yd. after two downs; the team had an overall gain of 20 yd. How many yards were gained on the second down?
The first thing you have to do is read the question 3 times so that you can understand what you have to do with the question. After reading it 3 times find where the question is by underlining it
On the first down, a football team had loss of 8 yd. after two downs; the team had an overall gain of 20 yd. How many yards were gained on the second down?
Now that you know what the question is. Find another way to say that by using a blank for the answer. Like this
The team gained ____ yards on the second down
What are some other important words? After finding it Highlight them

Now we need to make the let statement
Let y= yards gained on the second down
Now that you know the answer is 28 you can now fill in the blank that you left in the beginning
The team gained 28 yards on the second down
The next question that I am
going to do is

awesome job on your scribe post, Joanna!! you did a fantastic job on your explanations and I was able to understand them very clearly. your use of pictures and highlighting gives a great touch to it as well, though I do suggest adding a bit more colour to the scribe post. I believe that it'll help make it easier to read. great scribe post, Joanna!

ReplyDeleteGood Job on your Scribe Post Joanna. You made a well organized post, explained the steps on how to solve word problems clearly. I suggest that you use more colour for the scribe post. You highlighted some of the words but it still doesn't make it stand out as much.
